If you're a football coach or just goofing off with friends, most folks like to impress their peers with their athletic prowess. Even more than showing off your skills, sportsmen like to demonstrate neat football tricks they've picked up over the years. Some people like to showcase a cool new touchdown dance they created, while others can run down the field in a split second. Learning an impressive trick should play up on you assets while avoiding your shortcomings.

Knowing The Rules For Air Hockey Tables
By :
Seomul Evans.
Why do you need air hockey tables in your home? Here's why. When everyone gets together for the holidays or a special occasion, you don't want to just sit around the television or spend the whole evening staring blankly into each other's faces. And while some of the guys might enjoy viewing some sports on television such a choice might meet with groans and disapproving shakes of the head from the women. Sadly, what often happens with these gatherings is that everyone ends up going their own way and finding their own entertainment which defeats the purpose of the get together.

NFL Purchasing Guide
By :
James Walke.
American football has grown an enormous worldwide fan base because the American Professional Football Association was formed in 1920, with the first game being played on October 3rd of that year. From that day on the sport has grown to be what it is today having a larger fan base in America than Baseball, and a fan base that follows each and every season of American Football avidly from every corner from the globe. The NFL was born out from the APFL two years later in 1922 and eventually became the Major League of American Football.
The High-Tech Future Of Football
By :
Tom Doerr
A lot changed from one world cup to the next, namely the way in which we watch it, almost every household has a supersize HD TV available, most bought it just to watch the football on and at a fraction of the cost of what they used to be. Many pubs offered the games in 3D and the market is emerging as the next big trend with televisions, undoubtedly this will be the norm by the next world cup. This raises the question of what the future holds for the beautiful game, how will we enjoy it, how will they play it? There are a variety of theories that are perfectly plausible; the only question is how soon it will come. Here is a selection of theories of what football will be like in 2020.
Growing Calls For Football Refereeing Technology
By :
Tom Doerr
A football game can be won or lost on a questionable referee decision and this has always caused controversy on and off the pitch. Many argue that the introduction of technology to the decision making process would completely rule out any human error. In the recent world cup in South Africa there were numerous examples, particularly when England scored against Germany a goal that what was witnessed by millions but unfortunately not the ref. Many fans claim that had this goal been counted the unfortunate outcome would have been much different.

Giants In The Age Of Eli
By :
Freddie Brister.
Fans of the National Football League are well aware of the rich history of the New York Giants. Over the course of the last eighty-five years, the Giants have managed to achieve status as one of the elite historical franchises in the NFL. With a total of seven National Football League championships, including four prior to the advent of the Super Bowl and three since, the Giants have the third highest number of championships in the League. Only the twelve titles of the Packers and the nine earned by the Bears surpass the Giants total. Their most recent title win came in 2007, and featured the play of rising star Eli Manning.
Utah Utes - The BCS Sees Urban Renewal
By :
Freddie Brister.
From the beginning of the Bowl Championship Series' development, there were many complaints from the smaller conferences that the system denied them access to the upper tier BCS bowl games - and the increased revenue those games provided. For a team like the Utah Utes, the criticism had merit. With a long history of championship football within the various conferences in which they competed, the Utes felt they were as good as anyone else in the country. Other teams, like Boise State, felt they too were worthy of contention. New fans of college football are today more accustomed to the notion of mid-major teams being provided greater access to bowl games. Last year's TCU and Boise State BCS match up was a clear example of how much things have changed. For those unfamiliar with the history of the BCS, however, the breaking of that BCS wall between mid and major conferences may be somewhat of a mystery. It was actually the direct result of Urban Meyer's time as the coach of the Utah Utes - a short, two season span of time that enabled a school from the forgotten Mountain West Conference to crash the major conferences' BCS party.
Raiders And The Madden Years
By :
Freddie Brister..
It is hard to believe that there could be a single professional football fan in the world who has not heard of the legendary John Madden. He has, over the last half century, become as much a part of the game as the turf on which the NFL's teams play. For the Oakland Raiders, Madden's career as a coach is of particular interest, as it was under his stewardship that the team enjoyed some of its most productive years. This was, of course, during the team's glory years in the 1970s - a decade that saw the franchise win their first of what would eventually be three Super Bowl titles.
Georgia Bulldogs Running Back Herschel Walker
By :
Freddie Brister..
One of the most successful college football programs in the history of the game has been the Bulldogs from the University of Georgia. With a winning percentage that equates to victories in almost two out of every three games they have ever played, the Bulldogs have traditionally occupied a position in the ratified atmosphere of college football's premier teams. Located in the SEC (Southeastern Conference), the Georgia teams have seen some less than stellar seasons in the last several years, though they remain competitive and are often among the twenty-five top programs in any given year. Many great players have played in their 90,000 seat capacity stadium in Athens - a stadium so large that only four North American stadiums surpass it in size -over the years, with one of the more recognizable of those players being the great Herschel Walker, running back for the Georgia teams of 1980, '81, and '82.
Online Football Games - The Thrill Of Competition Without The Physical Exertion
By :

There are plenty of online football games for you to play on the Internet. Many of these games offer hours of fun (and time wasting) and many of them also have in-depth leader boards and stats for you to keep track of. While they are not quite the real thing, they are still just as fun for you.
Miami Hurricanes - Premier College Football Miami Style
By :
Freddie Brister.
Fans of college football know all too well the quality of the teams that the University of Miami football program has fielded in the last several decades. Though the program had not won a national championship for most of its eighty-four year history, the early 1980s saw a change in fortunes that has lasted into recent years. The five championships won by Miami teams since 1983 (the Associated Press awarded them the title in 1984, with another four titles awarded through 2002) are bested only by the programs at three other schools. With two winners of the Heisman Trophy in their history, the Hurricanes have had an impact both as a team and in personal bests. Their 58 consecutive home wins was an NCAA record that no team has managed to surpass.

San Diego Chargers - Whatever Happened To Mister Automatic?
By :
Freddie Brister.
Forget about the postseason woes of the San Diego Chargers over the last half-decade, the experts would say - just look at all they have accomplished. Indeed, they have owned the West division of the American Football Conference since 2006, and have compiled an impressive streak of sinning seasons that has not been seen in San Diego since the team's success in the Sixties. Still, for fans of the team, the experts are wasting their breath. Those playoff woes play heavily into the impressions of success that the team's supporters carry with them - and for many fans, each and every squandered opportunity at a Super Bowl title over the last four years is the result of a storyline with but one villain: Nate Kaeding, the team's kicker.
Seattle Seahawks - The Tale Of The 12th Man
By :
Freddie Brister.
If you're a fan of the National Football League, you know how important tradition is. Dallas and Detroit are supposed to play football games every Thanksgiving. Madden has to bring a twelve-legged turkey to the game. There's a reason they called it the Ice Bowl, and it doesn't matter if non-fans understand what we are talking about. These traditions give the sport we love its own unique flavor and appeal. The Seattle Seahawks, despite only having been in the league since 1976, have an important tradition of their own - and it is one that every fan of football can appreciate. It involves the team's acknowledgement of that all-important 12th Man
Jets And Broadway Joe
By :
Freddie Brister.
In recent years the New York Jets have done little to capture the imagination of the football world outside of bringing in Brett Favre for one very peculiar season. Other than that, there have been a few playoff appearances - most often as a wild card team - and even a couple of division titles in 1998 and 2002, but nothing close to the sort of glory experienced by the other New York team, the Giants. In fact, to revel in Jets glory, one has to travel all the way back to the hallowed NFL and AFL days of the late 1960s. It was during that time that the Jets won what would prove to be their only Super Bowl appearance and win in the franchise's fifty year history.

Arkansas Razorbacks Football Coach Frank Broyles
By :

They have been playing football at the University of Arkansas for more than a century - and they have been playing it well! In fact, when you calculate the percentage of wins versus games played, the Arkansas Razorbacks are among the 25 elite programs in the country, with victories in excess of 650 and losses that have not yet reached 450. During its time in the defunct Southwest Conference, the Razorbacks were winners of the conference a total of thirteen times - a clear indication of the quality of their program. More than half of those Conference titles were earned under the leadership of the man who coached the Razorbacks for nearly two decades beginning in 1958: Frank Broyles.
San Francisco 49ers And Joe Cool
By :
Freddie Brister..
Any review of professional football dynasties throughout history would be incomplete without mentioning the great San Francisco 49ers dynasty that existed over the course of the 1980s and into the first part of the following decade. In fact, that dynasty was one of the most impressive to ever take the field, as it occurred during the playing years of some of football's all time great stars - men like Steve Young and the indomitable Jerry Rice. Over a sixteen year period, 49ers teams compiled ten-plus win seasons each year and, with their great quarterback Joe Montana, won four amazing Super Bowls.
Saints - A Generation Of Patience
By :
Freddie Brister.
There is but one Louisiana team in the National Football League, and hat is the New Orleans Saints. Playing in the NFC's South Division, the Saints have demonstrated throughout their history that patience is not only a virtue - it is sometimes all you have. First founded in 1966, and joining the League in that year's expansion, the Saints' rise to prominence has been all but non-existent throughout most of their history. For a full decade, the team never managed to achieve a .500 season. Even after finally accomplishing that feat, it would be yet another ten years before they could compile their first winning season. It was more than another ten years after that before they managed a win in the postseason! To be a Saints fan has been to accept that life in the NFL is a roller-coaster that often has more extreme downward inclines than climbs. Patience has been about all the fans have had for most of the Saints' history.

Nebraska Cornhuskers And The Success Of Coach Osborne
By :
Freddie Brister.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers have seemingly always been among the most elite of all college football programs. Their victories number in excess of 800 - only six other programs have achieved that mark - and they stand alone as the team with the most football victories of any in the NCAA over the last 50 years. With 119 season campaigns under their belt, they currently stand in fourth place among Division 1 football wins. They have also won a total of five national crowns. Three of those five titles have been achieved within the last 25 seasons, and involved teams coached by one of football's most storied sideline generals: the great Tom Osborne, whose teams dominated the college game from 1973 through 1997.

Why The "inside Stuff" Is Important For Coaches
By :
Wade Salem
Almost every single issue we deal with today is a character issue-good or bad. In today's world we hire people for skills and then fire them because of character. The same can be said of sports. Today, talent is not enough because skill without character just develops mediocrity. Combining character and skill develop excellence. It's time to focus on the intangibles, the "inside stuff," which makes the difference in our players' performance, and in their lives.
Texas Tech Red Raiders Football And Mike Leach
By :
Freddie Brister.
The Red Raiders of Texas Tech University - known as "TTU" or Tech - have a history of college football that dates back to 1925. Playing in the heart of football country, the program at Texas Tech has had varying levels of positive success down through the years, but has been successful enough to garner an overall winning record. In addition, they have been successful within their own conference, and have won the conference title no less than eleven times. Consistently competitive over the course of the program's life, the Texas Tech teams can usually be counted on to provide a good contest for whomever the play. There has been one period that truly stands out in the program's history - the 2001 to 2009 years, during which every season was a winning one. During that same time frame, the Red Raiders were led by one of the very few coaches in the history of the college game who had never played a second of college football in his life.
Boise State Broncos - Blue Grass Dominance
By :
Freddie Brister.
One of the most startling things that can happen to any college football fan with only passing knowledge of the game is to look up onto their television screen during a highlights recap and see the Boise State Broncos football team playing at home. To be sure, the quality of play that the team delivers is definitely an attention-getter - the WAC team has been making waves in the NCAAs for some time, with particular attention drawn to them during the 2006 season. They went undefeated in that year, and their 13 victories included a Fiesta Bowl win over storied Oklahoma. That success has continued right up to the present, including another undefeated campaign in the 2009 season - a season in which many believe they had as much right to contend for a national championship as any of the other unbeaten teams at the top of the polls. Still, the team's success still isn't the most attention-grabbing aspect of the Boise State program. That distinction would, in the minds of most fans, center around the unique color of the football field on which the team plays - a bright shade of blue.
Football Education - Lose Fat And Develop Speed
By :
Jessica West
Football is really a game which favors huge and difficult game enthusiasts; it requires lots of strength and endurance. Nonetheless, gamers need to have a lot more than sheer actual size, strength and stamina to win football games. A player should also be fast on his feet and an excellent receiver if he wishes to make the winning touchdown. When the players aren't quick sufficient to outrun and outmaneuver their opponents, they are unlikely to earn the game

Southern Cal Trojans - The Carroll Years
By :
Freddie Brister.
Trojan football has been a part of the NCAA since 1888, with the University of Southern California team having consistently been one of the teams to beat. With 11 national titles to the program's credit, the Trojans have spent much of their history dominating the Pacific 10 Conference in which they compete, while also routinely threatening the national championship picture. Over the last decade, USC has spent much of their time ranked within the very top tier of the vote tabulations that have counted: the Associated Press (AP) and Bowl Championship Series (BCS) polls. Over the course of that decade, the Trojans were led by Coach Pete Carroll, who made a name for both himself and his team with a fast-paced style of offense and hard-nosed defense.

By :
Freddie Brister.
The Wisconsin Badgers have, from the beginning, been a football program where success and failure have come in waves. Though the team's overall 614-465 record is a positive one, it does not tell the entire story of Badger football - a tale that involves not only prolonged periods of success, but prolonged periods of failure as well. In the wake of their successful 1901 campaign, the Badgers went through a three and a half decade time of poor play that was only broken by their undefeated season in 1912. They nearly repeated that era of mediocrity with another after their defeat in the Rose Bowl of 1962 - another three decades of miserable results. However, the 1990 arrival of Barry Alvarez as Wisconsin's Head Coach would signal the return of the Badgers to national prominence.

In a driving rainstorm at Arrowhead Stadium the Houston Texans outlasted the Kansas City Chiefs to take a 16-10 NFL exhibition victory. It was the first game of the NFL preseason for both teams, and they were more or less happy to emerge unscathed from the deluge though Houston did suffer a potentially significant injury to their backup QB.
